
Grant Shumway is Chief Financial Officer of McCarthy Cook & Co., leading finance and accounting and partnering with executive leadership on capital markets, investment strategy, portfolio performance, risk management, and corporate initiatives. His 13-year commercial real estate career spans principal investing, development, acquisitions, asset management, and institutional transaction advisory.
Before joining MCC, Mr. Shumway spent six and a half years at Panattoni Development Company, among the largest privately held, full-service real estate developers globally. During his tenure, he helped capitalize more than 17 million square feet of industrial development across multiple United States markets. His transaction experience included approximately $1.4 billion of construction and permanent financing and more than $500 million of institutional joint venture equity with private equity firms, pension funds, and publicly traded REITs. His work spanned investment underwriting, business plan development, lease economics, capital partner negotiations, transaction execution, and portfolio oversight.
At CenterSquare Investment Management, Mr. Shumway worked across acquisitions and asset management on its private real estate investment platform, evaluating prospective retail, industrial, and multifamily investments and executing asset-level business plans, valuations, financings, and dispositions.
During four years at Eastdil Secured, he executed approximately $4.6 billion of institutional real estate transactions across office, industrial, retail, and hotel properties. His work included equity sales, joint venture recapitalizations, structured debt placements, investment underwriting and valuation, transaction structuring, and investor and lender diligence. He entered commercial real estate at George Smith Partners while completing his undergraduate studies.
Mr. Shumway earned his undergraduate degree from the USC Marshall School of Business with an emphasis in real estate finance and development and holds a California real estate broker license. He is active with CREDA SoCal, formerly NAIOP SoCal, where he was selected for its competitive Young Professionals Group leadership program and chaired the YPG Alumni Relations Committee from 2022 through 2025.
